This is a super-friggin-rushed speed drawing because I only realized it was the 10th anniversary of Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil's full release (August 11, 2012) at about 8:30 last night.
So yeah, I tried to draw 8 characters in 3-ish hours? I kind of gave up because I'd already drawn a lot yesterday so I finished it today.
For this super-duper-rushed reason, and the fact that I screwed up my tablet settings so no pen pressure, there are a LOT of yucky sloppy-sauce parts, wavery lines, etc etc. I hope that messing with the lighting and such hid my sloppiness, but then, I haven't done anything with this kind of lighting before.
There are a crapload of Touhou 6 jokes in it! I was trying to be clever. Here's an explanation:
The character that Rumia has made in danmaku behind her is the Japanese/Chinese character for 10, "ju" or "shi respectively, I think. It looks like a big cross.
When playing as Marisa, she asks Rumia why she's sticking her arms out. Rumia says,
"Doesn't this look like, 'The saint was crucified on the cross'?"
and Marisa replies, "Looks more to me like, 'Man adopted the decimal system.'"
This is because the decimal system is based off of 10, and the character for 10 looks like a cross.
Now, for EoSD's 10th anniversary, there's a nice big Rumia 10 in the sky! If Cirno's a 9-ball, Rumia's the 10-ball. Or 10-cross.
Basically, it reads, "For 10 years, congratulations!"
(I can only draw those characters because I learned hiragana and take Chinese in school, so forgive me if they're wrong. ;
There's also another joke about the line Marisa says after she beats Rumia. Tell me if you realize what it is.
